Privacy Policy

PURPOSE

This Privacy Policy explains how Allen Family Philanthropies (“AFP” or “we”) will collect and use your information when you visit allenphilanthropies.org (the “Site”). By accessing or using the Site, you consent to this Privacy Policy and AFP’s collection, storage and use of your information as described in this policy. Please carefully review the terms below before using the Site and if you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

When you sign up to receive updates or engage with AFP through the Site, we may collect certain personal information that will help us keep you informed about our programs and impact. When you subscribe to our updates or express interest in our programs, we may collect:

  • Your first and last name

  • Email address

  • Title and organization

  • Areas of interest related to our mission

  • Any other information you voluntarily provide

AFP uses Mailchimp as its email outreach platform. When you sign up to receive updates from us, the information you provide is transferred to Mailchimp for processing and is subject to Mailchimp’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.

INFORMATION AUTOMATICALLY COLLECTED

As is the case with most websites, to improve your experience on our Site, we may collect:

  • Browser and device information, including unique identifiers like cookies. Cookies are small pieces of data stored in the web browser cache on your device.

  • IP address, which helps us understand general geographic trends and troubleshoot technical issues.

  • Usage statistics, such as pages visited, time spent on the site, and referring links.

If you instruct your browser to refuse cookies, it may cause some aspects of the Site not to function properly. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with our Site. Google Analytics collects information such as your IP address, device and browser type and site usage behavior (e.g., pages visited, time on page). You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (“DNT”) setting that lets you express a preference not to be tracked across websites. While we strive to respect these signals where feasible, the Site does not currently guarantee that it will recognize or respond to all DNT signals due to the lack of a consistent industry standard.

HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We may use your information to send you relevant updates, newsletters and stories about AFP’s programs, work and impact that we think may be of interest to you. We may also use your information to communicate with you about changes to our policies. You can unsubscribe from such updates at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the footer of any email you receive from us, or by contacting us directly at legal@allenphilanthropies.org.

We may use cookies and other data to administer, maintain and improve our Site, to monitor and protect against fraud, and to understand the visitors that engage with our Site and how they engage. This will help us improve accessibility and outreach.

Information shared with these service providers will be subject to the service provider’s privacy policy.

In the event of such sharing, the use of your information will be governed by such organization’s privacy policy.
